    14-2. It looks like several hitters and pitchers will be up to speed this year. Although last year several players played well in spring training then hit a bump in the road
    once the season started.

    Spring hitting and pitching. A big contradiction. It's the only chance for people like Piatt, Clapinski, Merloni to show what they can do. Yet so many times, they will do well and make the team, only to peter out when the real season starts. I think that's what happened with Brandon Phillips last season. He won the job in Spring, but couldn't hit when the season started for real.

    It doesn't always work out that way, but it sure is a contradiction.

    Yeah, this year seems to be a mirror of last season. As long as it's not a mirror of two years ago when Alex Esocbar hurt his knee, I'll be happy.
